KING SPHYNX

Hairless cats—nature’s little oddballs. I love how they feel like warm peaches, their wrinkly skin, and those giant, bat-like ears that always seem to be listening in. And yes, they’re almost always cold, so naturally, they rock tiny sweaters better than most people I know. Despite their villain status in movies, Sphynx cats are total sweethearts: super social, clingy, and demanding more attention and grooming than a celebrity. But let’s not forget their regal roots—the name Sphynx comes from their ancient Egyptian vibes, all cheekbones and attitude, just like the goddess Bastet would approve.

Each work begins with an intricately rendered pencil drawing on an 8″ x 8″ wood panel, laying the foundation for the composition. I then introduce color through a refined glazing technique, allowing luminous layers to build depth and vibrancy. The background is completed with expressive, textured paint, a conscious nod to the tumultuous environments in which wildlife must persevere.
