Beagles—what more needs to be said? Their endearing charm, unwavering loyalty, and timeless companionship have always inspired me as an artist. Moved by the warmth and spirit of this remarkable breed, I felt compelled to capture the unique energy of a friend’s beagle. Yes, I’ve been known to do pet portraits.

Beagles have such joyful personalities and affectionate natures—they’re always curious and just love meeting new people. There’s something about their expressive faces and friendly antics that I find irresistible. Of course, they have a mind of their own and love to follow their noses, which always keeps things interesting!

Each work begins with an intricately rendered pencil drawing on an 8″ x 8″ wood panel, laying the foundation for the composition. I then introduce color through a refined glazing technique, allowing luminous layers to build depth and vibrancy. The background is completed with expressive, textured paint, a conscious nod to the tumultuous environments in which wildlife must persevere.
