QUEEN DEER

QUEEN DEER is an especially personal work within my Animal Kingdom series. As an artist, I am continually inspired by the quiet grace and ethereal presence of these majestic creatures. There’s a serene magic in the way they move—each step gentle, each glance calm and wise. When I paint them, I seek to capture that sense of stillness and peace that envelops the forest when a deer appears, and the quiet connection you feel as they meet your gaze with those deep, soulful eyes. White-tailed deer, to me, embody grace, intuition, and spiritual transformation. Their keen senses and elusive nature have made them enduring symbols of harmony, gentle guardians of the woodland, and messengers of tranquility.

Each work begins with an intricately rendered pencil drawing on an 8″ x 8″ wood panel, laying the foundation for the composition. I then introduce color through a refined glazing technique, allowing luminous layers to build depth and vibrancy. The background is completed with expressive, textured paint, a conscious nod to the tumultuous environments in which wildlife must persevere.
